Vitax Grow Pots for Ring Culture

Ring Culture is the name given to the method of growing plants where two sets of roots are formed. The roots grown within the ring culture pots are used to take up the plant food, whilst the second set of roots penetrate down into the area below the pot, seeking out water.

This has benefits over growing tomatoes in a greenhouse border as moisture is retained in the substrate below the pot and the plant food in the pot is more easily accessible. The compost in the pot will be warmer than the soil in the bed, so transplanted young plants experience less of a check from cold surroundings.
